BMW lives with motorsport. The appearance, the aesthetics and of course a special focus on performance have always been an essential part of the DNA of the Bavarian car manufacturer.
In order to cultivate the unprecedented performance and incomparable driving experience that has defined the BMW heritage for decades, the car manufacturer founded BMW Motorsport GmbH in the early 1970s. With great success.
For over 50 years, the prefix M has made the hearts of sports car enthusiasts beat faster. The letter – representing motorsport – has now become a synonym for high-performance vehicles from Munich.
The material of the new special edition Sharknose comes from the interior of the founding father of the spectacularly sporty M family: the M635CSi .
The special edition is limited to 499 units and will be available online from 8 p.m. German time on February 26th .
Subtle understatement looks different: The colorful decorative stitching creates a clear contrast on the lotus white BMW interior leather and is reminiscent of the colors of the M division. The eye-catching racing perforations do the rest and underline the robust motorsport look.
The bracelet is nothing less than a statement. It reflects the passion for automotive design and engineering and symbolizes the appreciation of the unique qualities of BMW M.
Blue, purple and red: the striking color scheme of BMW's sporty sub-brand M has always adorned vehicles on and off the racetrack.
There are many myths surrounding the meaning of these colors: It seems likely that the blue color stands for the parent company BMW, the red component of the color could stand for the motorsport sponsor Texaco, but this theory is controversial. BMW M itself puts it more pragmatically: "Blue stands for the BMW brand, red for motorsport and violet for this unique connection."
The color violet no longer exists in the M emblem. After a further development of the design, it has given way to a deep dark blue.
It is often said that M is the strongest letter in the world – and who could disagree?
BMW's M division has been a driving force in the automotive industry for over 50 years and enjoys a reputation for producing high-quality sporty vehicles that have become an integral part of the premium segment.
After the BMW M brand was active exclusively on the racetrack for the first few years of its existence, the first real M series vehicle was to follow in 1984: the BMW M635CSi with 286 hp, the most powerful representative of the then new 6 Series to date.
The early 1980s brought a big change for BMW: The BMW Motorsport department made the excitement of racing accessible to everyone.
With the M versions of established series, the Munich-based carmaker is planting the seeds for a family of affordable sports cars with an international, passionate fan base.
