To ensure that you can enjoy your leather product for a long time, you should follow a few simple tips and advice. With the right care, your natural product will not only continue to look good even after years, but will also develop a characteristic patina - a unique witness to time on your wrist.

Leather has been used to make clothing and jewelry for thousands of years. It has proven itself and does not need to be overly protected. So don't waste too much time on leather care, because it can easily be too much of a good thing. One thing in advance: your leather should not be treated more often than every six months. Leather quickly becomes over-oiled, which can damage the material.

General leather care

The biggest enemy of leather is moisture. Make sure that your leather product does not get wet and it is best to store it in rooms where the humidity is moderate.

If it does get wet, dab the leather surface with a dry cloth and avoid rubbing the leather. It is also advisable to take off leather bracelets when exercising or to replace them with a waterproof bracelet. This keeps the inner leather free from large amounts of sweat and prevents moisture from penetrating deeper layers of leather. If you want to clean your leather product, we recommend a mild leather care product, such as Collonil Organic Bamboo Lotion.

Alternatively, we recommend Collonil Organic Protect & Care, which additionally waterproofs the leather. Both care products contain almost no chemical ingredients and are particularly kind to the skin. Please use a soft, undyed cloth to apply.

personalization

Most BandWerk leather accessories can be personalized with your initials or a dedication. In particular, monograms embossed with hot foil (for example in silver or gold) should come into contact with moisture or greasy surfaces as little as possible.

Vegetable tanned leathers

We use vegetable tanned leather for most of our bracelets, AirPods cases and iPhone cases. The durable and robust leather is usually quite firm at first, but after a few days it adapts perfectly to your usage.

To maintain the characteristic appearance of your leather product over the years, we recommend, as with all leather products: Keep your product away from oily and damp surfaces. Should it become damp or dirty, gently dab the affected area with a soft cloth.

Shell Cordovan leather

The original Shell Cordovan leather from the famous Horween tannery in Chicago is one of the most exclusive luxury goods on the leather market.

The special tanning process creates a dense, fine-fiber structure with a mirror-like surface.

There are special leather care products for Cordovan, such as Saphir Medaille d'Or Cordovan . This can be applied occasionally with a soft brush, then the wax should be allowed to soak in for a few minutes. Finally, you can polish the surface with a soft cotton cloth.

Alligator and teju leather

The extravagant, luxurious appearance of the exotic leathers is incomparable due to the unique material.

Caring for teju and alligator leather is quite straightforward. We recommend using a slightly damp, soft cotton cloth for cleaning. Classic leather cleaners and care products should be avoided if possible in order not to affect the scale structure.
