Special Edition

Vega

Facel Vega – a name that once captured the hearts of the elite. In the golden times of the 50s and 60s, it was a select group of icons such as Ringo Starr, Stirling Moss and some other greats of the time who were able to call such a car their own.

A short but glorious chapter in automotive history in which French luxury and grand tourism flair were perfectly combined.

In 1964, the Facel Vega chapter ended when the French car manufacturer had to close its doors. A limited bracelet collection is now being created from the interior of the rare Facel III, which left the factory in the last year of production.

Facel Vega

In 1939, a former Citroën designer and aircraft builder named Jean Daninos founded the metal construction company Facel SA near Paris.

After the war, the company initially specialized in bodywork for other automobile manufacturers before creating the first independent vehicle with an American V8 engine and an aircraft cockpit-like interior, the luxurious Facel Vega FV, under the name Vega.

The handcrafted coupes and convertibles quickly became the epitome of elegance and performance, loved by celebrities and the nobility.

In order to be able to compete in the attractive market for lightweight sports cars, Daninos' team developed the Facellia model a few years later in order to compete with brands such as Alfa Romeo and Porsche - a big mistake.

The specially developed engine soon proved to be extremely prone to defects; the many complaints put the company in serious economic danger. A rescue attempt – the Facel III model.

The successor to the Facellia received a reliable four-cylinder engine from Volvo, thus solving Facel's quality problems. A total of 625 units of the Facel III were built, 192 of which were convertibles.

For the homologation of the car, Facel certifies that 100 units of the Facel III model have already been produced.

The Edition

Almost 60 years later, one of the last of the 192 Facel III convertibles finds its way into Boris Pankiewicz's upholstery shop , where the original black interior is replaced by a new, cream-colored one.

The interior material of the beautifully preserved dark red 1964 Facel Vega ends up at BandWerk a short time later, where it is revived as a special edition Vega.

The bracelet design is a homage to the car itself, which impresses not only with its extraordinary silhouette but also with an incomparable interior.

The next chapter

On October 31, 1964, Facel ceased its business activities for good. The defective engine of the Facellia caused such great damage to the company's finances and reputation that operations could not continue.

Even though the French car manufacturer only brought a few thousand vehicles onto the road, the brand is not forgotten. The Amicale Facel Vega association takes care of the preservation of existing vehicles and coordinates events for fans of the brand.

With the special edition Vega you acquire a part of this extraordinary heritage. The bracelet will be available online from November 19, 2023 from 8 p.m. German time.
