Lederarmband richtig pflegen, so gehts!

To ensure that you can enjoy your leather bracelet for a long time, you should follow a few simple tips and advice. With the right care, your natural product will not only continue to look good even after years, but will also develop a characteristic patina - a unique witness to time on your wrist.

General leather care measures

Leather has been used to make clothing and jewelry for thousands of years. It has proven itself and does not need to be overly protected.
So don't waste too much time on leather care, because it's easy to overdo it. One thing in advance: your leather shouldn't be treated more often than every six months, because leather can quickly become over-oiled, which can damage the material.

The biggest enemy of leather is moisture. Make sure that your Apple Watch strap does not get wet and store it in rooms where the humidity is moderate. If it does get damp, dab the leather surface with a dry cloth and avoid rubbing the leather.

It is also advisable to remove the leather strap when exercising or to replace it with a waterproof strap. This way the inner leather remains free from large amounts of sweat and moisture is prevented from penetrating deeper layers of leather.

If you want to clean your leather product, we recommend a mild leather care product, such as Collonil Organic Bamboo Lotion. Alternatively, we recommend Collonil Organic Protect & Care, which additionally impregnates the leather. Both care products contain almost no chemical ingredients and are particularly kind to the skin. Please use a soft, undyed cloth to apply.

Caring for alligator leather

Alligator leather is particularly sensitive to moisture and heat, which can damage the scale structure of the leather. If the leather does come into contact with moisture, you should carefully dab it with a dry cloth.

We recommend avoiding any cleaning creams or greases that may cause stains on your product.

Care and cleaning for Shell Cordovan leather

Shell Cordovan is relatively easy to maintain. It is naturally resistant to splashes of water and is particularly resistant to scratches and damage.
Because the leather contains a lot of natural fat, additional greasing by hand is not recommended.

To clean, we recommend nothing more than a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Cleaning and caring for Apple Watch straps made of waterproof genuine leather

The waterproof leather from BandWerk is a specially treated genuine leather.

The bracelet can be worn while swimming in fresh and salt water without any problems, but should always be cleaned of impurities and rinsed under running water afterwards.
We generally advise against the use of cleaning and waterproofing agents to prevent the hydrophobic characteristics of the leather from being impaired.

Every BandWerk order also comes with a small care brochure that informs you about the special features of each type of leather. If you have any further questions, we are happy to help you directly here in the chat or by email.
