From Mercedes-Benz O 321 H Interior
Germany is world champion! 1954 was not only the year in which the German national football team surprisingly won the world championship title and brought new optimism to post-war-torn Germany; it was also the year in which Mercedes-Benz created another world champion with its O 321 H bus. This bus quickly became a worldwide bestseller and developed into the best-selling model of its time.
With our special edition we celebrate this double world champion spirit that made history both on the football field and on the streets.

Complete restoration
The fate of the Mercedes-Benz O 321 H, an extraordinary example of German engineering and travel culture, is as fascinating as its rebirth. Originally equipped in 1962 with a 110 hp OM 321 engine, its journey began in the hands of the renowned coach builder Ernst Auwärter in Stuttgart. There it was converted into a coach for the Johann Schornstheimer bus company from Bodenheim. During the construction phase, the bus underwent a significant intervention at the customer's request: the engine was replaced with a more powerful model, the OM 322 with 126 hp.
The bus served its purpose faithfully for almost two decades until it disappeared from the streets in 1978 and found a new home in the resting hands of bus collector Helmuth Radlmeier in Ergoldsbach. He carefully preserved it there until Rainhard Kainzmaier, a restorer from Upper Bavaria, took it home in 2016 .
With the vision of restoring the glory of days gone by, Kainzmaier began a loving restoration. In the course of this work, the bus underwent further modernization: an engine change to an OM 366 with 175 hp and the retrofitting of power steering. The completion of this project is scheduled for this summer.
Mr. Rainhard Kainzmaier kindly gave us the opportunity to revive the original interior leather of this historic vehicle and integrate it into our special edition.
One chassis, countless variants
Mercedes often only supplied the robust chassis, but left the transformation into the actual bus to specialists who turned their customers' tailor-made wishes into reality.
Ernst Auwärter made a name for himself by producing exceptional coach bodies for the O 321 H, which went far beyond the limits of the standard models. This practice allowed an impressive variety of uses for the O 321 H: from coaches with comfortable equipment to everyday buses that connected cities and towns.
With the entry into the 1960s, the O 321 H experienced a design evolution – the round shapes gave way to increasingly angular designs, a reflection of the constant change and adaptation to the spirit of the times and the aesthetic preferences of the era.
This remarkable versatility and the outstanding quality of the O 321 H paved the way for its global success. Mercedes-Benz buses, individually adapted by master craftsmen such as Ernst Auwärter, found their way to numerous countries around the globe, where they were valued as reliable, elegant means of transport and to this day hold a firm place in the history of international bus construction.
Design inspiration
After the old seat covers of the Mercedes-Benz O 321 H were carefully removed by master saddler Peter Weber and replaced with new material in a fresh design, we got the chance to revitalize this interior leather.
While the backrest was made of cotton fabric, we found grey leather in the side parts of the seats, which – after a thorough cleaning – was still in excellent condition.
The result: 899 unique bracelets that capture not only the spirit but also the aesthetics of the extraordinary bus from 1962.
The blue stitching and cream-colored edges reflect the original color scheme of the vehicle as it was delivered in the 1960s. The design embodies the heritage of a vehicle that traveled the world and now lives on in a new form on your wrist.
With 899 exclusive pieces that feature the grey leather seats and the original colour scheme of the historic bus, we offer you not just an accessory, but a piece of contemporary history. This special edition combines past and present in a unique design.
